Your Atlanta Hawks have just completed a tough three game road trip, that was crucial to them making a statement to the rest of the Association.  What type of statement they made would be dependent on not only the outcome of the games, but also their performance against superior competition.  Following their win at home against the Chicago Bulls, the Hawks hit the road for three games against the Cavs, Rockets and the Mavericks.  Three teams with a combined record of 50-22 heading into this past Wednesday night. “The grass is always greener on the other side”, is a state of mind that has made its way into every single member of the Bulldog nation over the course of the past decade. Every year for the Bulldog faithful it’s a constant barrage of “What if’s?” or “Woulda’, coulda’, shoulda’” scenarios that always bring us back to the same conclusion. Justin Upton moved to the Padres for 4 prospects in return.

While the teams themselves have yet to publicly announce this trade as official, just about every other source in the country has confirmed it as true. Justin Upton, and a played to be named later, will be playing for the San Diego Padres next season. They will be joining the new-look Padres outfield, which has also added Matt Kemp and Will Myers, most notably, this off-season. Not to mention, a just announced acquisition of David Ross, to add to the acquisitions of Derek Norris and Will Middlebrooks. While it seems apparent that the San Diego Padres are keyed in on competing immediately in the 2015 season, they at least appear to have a definitive plan of action during this off-season.  Read More

The Atlanta Hawks are a team of players your average fan may not know, but should definitely learn about. The point guard position in the NBA is deepest position in the NBA. Just this past offseason, Coach K couldn’t decide between Steph Curry, Derrick Rose, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, and John Wall. First thing first, I would love any of these guys to be my point guard of the Hawks. So the elite guards are stacked, but the list stays tight all the way to the bottom. Read More

Kyle Korver, Al Horford, Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap, DeMarre Carroll. Five names most people would look at and say “I have no idea who these guys are, nor do I really care”; that is unless you are an Atlanta Hawks fan. These five guys (not the famous Burger joint) are your starting line-up for the 3rd best team in the eastern conference, and possibly a top five team in the NBA. Black and Yellow vs. Red and Black

The picture above was not taken in Pittsburgh. It wasn’t even taken in the state of Pennsylvania. It was taken in CONYERS, GEORGIA.  That makes perfect sense…right?! this is a perfect example of one of the struggles TRUE Falcons fans have dealt with for quite sometime.  But let’s be honest, from time to time, any stadium/venue in our city can be about a 50/50 mix, if not worse, when certain visitin teams come to town.  There are going to be enough Terrible Towels, waving frantically, at the Dome this Sunday to make a real Falcons fan sick. That’s sad, but it’s part of being an Atlanta sports fan. The Falcons have one last shot against an AFC North opponent this Sunday versus the Steelers, one of the perennial contenders, and most respected organizations in the conference. After tough losses in Cincinnati and Baltimore, and coming up short in a brutal time management debacle nail biter here at home against the Browns, the Birds need to prove they can win at least one game against an AFC North opponent, and the Steelers represent the perfect opportunity to do just that! Why does Tech have such high draft picks, but can’t compete in the ACC? Why don’t star players want to stay in the state to play for hometown teams? Just like we all thought in August Alabama and Missouri will play for the SEC Championship this Saturday in Atlanta. I’m kidding. Nobody predicted that. Yes, the Tide was a consensus favorite to win the West, but most people thought the East winner would be Florida, South Carolina, or Georgia. In fact most Georgia fans think they should STILL be in the game proving my point that UGA fans are the most delusional fans in the country. They’re like that nice non-threatening kid in high school whose best friends with all the girls but will never seal the deal. TheRealPicks: Championship Week

3-2 last week.  Not great, but it gets the job done.  The most unfortunate part about last week was everything that took place in and around Sanford Stadium last week, but thats beside the point.  I’m here to deliver you picks, and to stay above 53%.  We are looking at another tough slate this week as there are less games to pick from and more tough matchups.  The breakdowns and analysis will be short this week, so your just going to have to trust me on some blind faith this week.  The good news for you, is that my blind faith led me to two of the most unlikely upset picks in the NFL last week, with picks on the Falcons and Jags, which neither team had much business covering, much less actually winning both games.
